📍 Base: Reykjavik


Start and end your trip in Reykjavik, Iceland’s capital. All destinations in this itinerary can be reached with a rental car or booked tours.

🗓 Day 1: Golden Circle + Icelandic Culture


🚗 Morning: Þingvellir National Park


Drive time from Reykjavik: 45 min


Highlights:


Walk between tectonic plates (North American and Eurasian).


Visit the historic Alþingi (Iceland’s original parliament site).


Short hike to Öxarárfoss waterfall.



Optional stop: Silfra Fissure viewpoint (no diving/swimming needed).

🌋 Late Morning: Geysir Geothermal Area


Drive time from Þingvellir: 50 min


See Strokkur erupt every 5–10 minutes.


Walk around bubbling geothermal pools and steaming vents.

🌊 Afternoon: Gullfoss Waterfall


Drive time from Geysir: 10 min


Massive two-tier waterfall—one of Iceland’s most iconic.


Easily walkable paths for multiple viewpoints.

🐴 Optional Detour: Icelandic Horse Farm


Nearby farms like Friðheimar offer short horse tours or petting sessions.


Great way to learn about the unique gait of Icelandic horses (tölt).

🍽️ Evening: Reykjavik Food & Culture


Return to Reykjavik (~1.5 hrs).


Explore:


Hallgrímskirkja Church and go to the tower for sunset views.


Harpa Concert Hall lit up at night.



Dinner recommendations:
